Two days workshop on Maternal & Child Health held in Srinagar Gazzanfer cautioned DDOs not to violate guidelines

12 December, Srinagar: Two days orientation cum dissemination workshop organised by National Health Mission, J&K on Maternal & Child Health Guidelines was held at Srinagar today. The workshop was inaugurated by Mr. Gazzanfer Hussain, Commissioner/ Secretary Health & Medical Education department. The Inaugural session was attended by Mr. Majid Khalil Draboo, Special Secretary, H&ME department ; Dr Saleem Ur Rehman, Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Rafiq Pampori, Principal Govt. Medical College, Srinagar; Dr Riyaz Farooq, Principal Govt. Dental College, Srinagar & Dr Kaiser Ahmad, Medical Superintendent, Govt. Dental College, Srinagar.
Speaking on the occassion Mr Gazzenfer Hussain said that, “National Health Mission has been doing wonderful job by way of providing liberal funding to health department and thereby helping the department in strengthening of health infrastructure, additional manpower and various schemes for the benefit of people”. He urged Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents & Block Medical Officers to strictly follow the guidelines of State Health Society for implementation of the programme and cautioned the drawing & disbursing officers not to violate financial code while incurring expenditure on various activities. He asked the participants to benefit from such type of workshops and help the State in improving maternal & child health for bringing down maternal & infant mortality in the state.
Dr Yashpal Sharma Mission Director NHM, J&K in his inaugural address urged for plugging of gaps in the delivery of essential services through action at various levels of the healthcare delivery system so that best Maternal & Child health care is provided to the community. He asked the participants to monitor the Health Management Information System (HMIS) and strengthen the reporting mechanism so that it can help administrators in effective planning & implementation of various programmes.
Dr Saleem Ur Rehman, Director Health Services, Kashmir in his address appreciated the support provided by National Health Mission in creating better health infrastructure and service delivery through various programme & schemes from time to time.
Dr Rafiq Pampori, Principal Govt. Medical College Srinagar also spoke on the occasion. The Inaugural Session was followed by technical session for two days in which detailed presentations on Maternal & Child Health guidelines are being made by Dr Harjeet Rai, Divisional Nodal Officer Jammu, Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, Divisional Nodal Officer Kashmir, Dr Shabir Ahmad, Programme Manager, RKSK & Dr. Younis Mushtaq, Associate Programme Manager. The participants are being sensitized about the latest guidelines of MoH&FW, GoI on Maternal & Child Health. The workshop is being attended by Chief Medical Officers, Medical Superintendents, Dy. Chief Medical Officers, Block Medical Officers, Gynaecologists, Medical Officers, and District & Block Programme Management Units of Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal & Pulwama districts.
