Two Days Health & Screening Camp held under NHM at Kot Bhalwal... Camps were conducted across the State on the Directions of Shri Bali Bhagat, Hon’ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, J&K



8th April 2018; National Health Mission, Jammu & Kashmir organized a 2 day Health cum Screening Camp under Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) at Govt. Higher Secondary School, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu as a special initiative in the series of upcoming similar camps which are being conducted across the State as per the directions of Shri Bali Bhagat, Hon’ ble Minister for Health and Medical Education, J&K.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, NHM, J&K said that as a part of the Swachh Bharat Mission launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri  Narendra Modi a massive mass movement that seeks to create a Clean India by 2019, various activities are being conducted across the State of Jammu & Kashmir during Swachhata Pakhwada  “Swachhata Se Sidhi” campaign (w.e.f 1st to 15th April 2018) that was launched by Shri Bali Bhagat, Hon, ble Minister for Health & Medical Education, on 1st of April 2018 at Govt. Gandhi Nagar Hospital Jammu.
In series of these events the RBSK camp was held at Govt. Boys Higher Secondary School, Kot Bhalwal and the NHM in collaboration with other line departments will organize such health awareness & screening camps, in every district of the State for the benefit of rural masses in order to screen them and educate about various diseases, preventive measures, sanitation, and environment for the good health.
The inaugural function was attended by Dr Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, NHM, J&K; Dr Gurjeet Singh Director Health Services Jammu, Dr Sameer Mattoo, Director Family Welfare, Mr Raja Ilyas Khan, SDM kot Bhalwal, Chief Medical Officer Jammu , Officers from Directorate of Health Services, Jammu, Dr. Dimple, ZEO, Bhalwal, Tersem Lal Gorka, Dr. Manzoor Ahmed, Block Medical Officer, Bhalwal, Programme Managers from State Health Society  Block Medical Officer Officer Bhalwal and senior Officers of other departments.
The main objective of these Health & RBSK screening camps is screening of children (0-18 years) from schools & anganwadi of difficult areas who could not be screened by RBSK Mobile health teams during routine screening in schools and anganwadi centres and to provide them with free specialist consultation especially in Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, ENT, Opthalmology, Gynaecology, Physician Services, AFHC Counselling in order to ensure on spot treatment. Children requiring surgical management are identified and their cases are processed for providing financial assistance under RBSK at tertiary care health institutions within and outside the State for free management.
Besides screening, special focus is laid on creating awareness among masses about various schemes of National Health Mission, health education, hygiene demonstration on techniques of hand washing and deworming.
At the end of two days camp at Kot Bhalwal, 2165 Children from various schools, anganwadi Centres and madrasas were screened by RBSK Mobile Health Teams.  Specialist consultations were provided to 956 children and out of which 55 children were identified for providing financial assistance under RBSK for their further evaluation & treatment at tertiary care health institutions. During the camp, the children were given free mass deworming tablets,age appropriate Vitamin A doses and refreshments. Free medicines were given to 567 children suffering with minor ailments. Adolescent girls were given counselling on Menstrual Hygiene and were provided with 400 packs of free sanitary pads.
